Heel Pain
Heel pain can be frustrating — whether it’s a sharp, stabbing sensation when you first step out of bed, or a dull ache after a long day on your feet. At Stride Footcare in West End, Brisbane, we understand how heel pain can disrupt your life, and we’re here to help you move comfortably again.
Common Causes of Heel Pain
There’s no one-size-fits-all cause for heel pain. That’s why our podiatrist, Cristina Smundin, takes thorough approach to assess and diagnose what’s really going on first. Some of the most common conditions we see include:
Plantar Fasciitis – inflammation of the thick tissue under your foot
Heel Spurs – bony growths often related to plantar fasciitis
Achilles Tendinopathy – pain at the back of the heel, often in runners or active adults
Fat Pad Syndrome – bruising or thinning of the natural heel cushion
Calcaneal Apophysitis (Sever’s disease) – common in children and teens during growth spurts
Bursitis or Nerve Entrapment – Less common, but important to rule out
